Cropping & Curving the Flat Paper Surface

Baby’s gazing intently at me in my drawing.  His plumage is getting more detailed and now he has one foot.  I’m deepening tones in the shadows and gingerly touching up the side of his breast that gets the most natural light, adding more texture.  Feeling that he’s lost on the expanse of white Bristol paper, I crop him and burnish and blur the top two corners (artist Jerry Winick’s idea).  Now it’s almost like looking at the bird through a fish-eye lens.
