Hopkins Swimmers

So, here is “Hopkins Swimmers” in watercolor.  Getting the feel of the fluttering water wasn’t easy nor was it easy achieving that nebulous torso and head, obscured by wavy watery distortions.  Painting the disembodied legs kicking was the most satisfying, because of the dark green shadows reflected up from the bottom of the pool that contrasted and blended into the pinky golds of the swimmer’s legs. The result is somewhat of an impressionistic abstraction.  But, it conveys how I felt thinking about being underwater and looking up towards the pool’s surface.Hopkins Swimmers_adj_72
